My inspiration: an almost faded photo of someone wearing a leotard. I simplified + duplicated the image, then painted in my “Matisse-inspired” style. 
When I was young, I remember pairing pink + red was a fashion no-no. But not anymore! This 16×20 acrylic diptych on panels is highlighted with gold accents and is so happy. I have these displayed in our guest bathroom, framed in gold, which has lime green wall paper. Delicious!

Being inspired by the season is really a thing. For me, winter is a dramatic time.
